A spray tan is 50% application, and 50% skin preparation and after care.
*Your spray tan should be the last of all beauty appointments you attend*
Skin Prep:
-
Shave/Wax 24 hours before the appointment.
-
Exfoliate using a non-oil based scrub & exfoliating mitt/ dry brush
-
Exfoliate after shaving/waxing.
-
Hydrate the skin: Drink lots of water and moisturize daily leading up to your tanning appointment, but do NOT moisturize on the day of appointment.
-
DO NOT SHOWER RIGHT BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT (AT LEAST 4 HRS AHEAD).
-
If you have an old spray tan left over or self tanner, this may produce undesired results.
-
Have loose, dark clothing & sandals available for after.
During your session:
-
At time of the appointment have bare, clean skin: no lotion, deodorant, oils, make-up, perfume etc.
-
You may tan fully nude or wearing undergarments; I offer disposable undergarments.
After Your Spray Tan:
Before you rinse:
-
Wear loose, dark clothing. No bras, socks, tight tops or yoga pants/jeans.
-
Do not get wet or sweat; this may cause streaks, blotchiness.
-
Do not touch the solution with your palms.
Your 1st shower:
-
Rinse only using lukewarm water, NO SOAP, and only your hands to guide the bronzer off the body.
-
The bronzer will wash off and you will look lighter, but it takes 12 hrs for the tan to fully develop.
-
Pat dry, do not rub yourself with your towel.
-
Do not use any lotion after this 1st rinse; wait until the following day to moisturize.
Caring for Your Tan:
-
Moisturize daily w/non mineral oil lotion. This will lengthen the life of the tan, and allow for an even fade.
-
Stay away from oil-based products.
-
Always pat dry when getting out of the pool, shower, etc.
-
Wear mineral oil-free sunblock and apply approx. 15 minutes before going into the pool, ocean or Jacuzzi to help protect the tan as best as possible.
-
Stay away from abrasive products such as exfoliates and acids.
-
Swimming, soaking, excessive sweating will cause the tan to fade quicker.
-
Use a tan extending lotion to help preserve the tan for 3-5 more days.
-
Use clear gel, sulfate free body wash; Avoid opaque, creamy body washes and bar soaps. Avoid DOVE and OLAY body washes.
