How do I prepare for my spray tan appointment?
Please read my Prep and Maintenance section.
How long will my spray tan last?
Approximately 7- 10 days. Follow my Prep and Maintenance guide to prolong the life of your tan.
We offer skincare products to help extend and maximize the life span of your tan.
How soon can I shower?
It is advised to wait at least 8 hours* before showering. This gives the tan enough time to develop. Note that keeping the solution on beyond 8 hours will not make you any darker. The solution is designed to develop to optimum color, and nothing will happen beyond that.
* Rapid tan can be showered off after 1-4 hours.
Can I get spray tan if I’m pregnant?
The solution I use is safe for expecting mothers, but I do recommend asking your doctor’s advice, especially in the first trimester.
Can I still workout?
Yes. However, excessive sweating, chlorine, oils, and exfoliating will reduce the life span of your tan. Be prepared to have a shorter tan life if you do any of the above mentioned.
Will I turn orange?
No. We are well versed in color theory to customize the right color for your skin tone.
How long will the appointment take?
Please allow 30 minutes. This includes the set up, consultation, tanning, clean up, and answering any questions you have.
What should I expect during the appointment?
When we arrive you will have an initial consultation to establish your sunless tanning needs.
We will find a convenient and well lit area to open up the portable tent.
You will remove your clothes (to your comfort level), put on a hair net, eye, and nose protection. A spray gun will be used to apply the tan (this can get a little noisey) directly to your skin
. Once the solution has dried you will be able to get dressed.
Please allow up to 30 mins for your appointment.
Do I have to be naked?
No.
Ladies: You may wear as much or as little as you want. We do have disposable bottoms for you if you wish to use them.
Gentleman: G-String or briefs are required please.
Will the spray tan solution leave a mess in my house?
No. We use tent to tan you in, that holds any over spray (which is always minimal).
Will it stain my clothes / furniture / bedding?
While the tan is developing we advise you to wear loose dark clothing following your spray tan. If left to develop overnight color may transfer to your bed sheets. Light colored fabrics may be temporarily stained with the solution but will easily removed in the wash. Dark bed sheets, and dark towels are recommended to sit or sleep on until you rinse off your bronzer.
Can I still sun tan?
Yes. Be sure that you still wear SPF, the solution I use does not protect from harmful UV rays.
I have asthma, is it safe for me to get a spray tan?
If you suffer from any respiratory problems please consult with your doctor before booking a spray tan. We have nose filters to prevent inhalation of any product available upon request.
What happens if I inhale the tanning solution?
No one should purposely inhale the tanning mist. DHA is a non-hazardous compound, and it does not cause adverse reaction in moderate quantities when applied topically.
Is it safe for my skin?
Yes. Sunless tanning is the safest tan you will ever get.
DHA (the active ingredient) lays on the outermost layer of the skin and does not absorb into the bloodstream and poses no possibility of toxicity.
How does it work?
The active ingredient in the spray Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) causes a chemical reaction with the amino acids on the outermost layer of your skin. This reaction causes the color on the skin to change producing a natural looking tan.
How often should I get a airbrush spray tan?
If you want to maintain a consistent glow, a spray tan is recommended every 7-10 days. Please be sure you remove all of your previous spray tan, before you next spray tan appointment.
